As citizens, farmers, and communities, we are working together to preserve farmland and ecosystems, develop local food systems, expand rural jobs and create vibrant rural areas.

Terre de Liens is a founding member and the facilitator of the Access to Land Network which brings together grassroots organisations from across Europe to share experiences and promote the significance of access to land for agroecological transition and generational renewal. Established in 2012, the network functions as an informal alliance of about 15 organisations.


JOB PURPOSE :

To facilitate the implementation of experience-sharing within the Access to Land network, support the emergence of new land initiatives, and develop alliances with external partners to advance access to farmland for agroecology. The post holder will achieve this through close working relationships with the core team of the Access to Land network, key partners and Terre de Liens’ team members.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Facilitate experience-sharing among members of the Access to Land network, to consolidate the skills and ways of working of member organisations
 Support the development of new access to land initiatives and new collaborations with organisations in Central and Eastern Europe
 Provide expertise and leadership for the production of educational resources – toolkits, case studies, webinars, on-line materials – for grassroots access to land initiatives.
 Develop collaborations and alliances to advance campaigning and advocacy in favour of better regulations for access to farmland in Europe, food sovereignty and peasant farming.
 Lead and contribute to developing communication tools – e.g. the Network’s website (www.accesstoland.eu), the newsletter, videos.
 Organise, participate in and support experience-sharing activities, e.g. field visits, workshops, networking meetings, mentoring.
 Facilitate the Access to Land network, including information-sharing, managing membership applications, monitoring implementation of the strategic plan.
 Coordinate EU-funded projects with multiple partners and work packages, including administrative and financial reporting, internal communication, monitoring and evaluation
 Manage the budget (approx. €130,000/ year) and report to funders (EU programmes and private foundations).

As staff member of Terre de Liens, the Coordinator of the Access to Land network reports to the Director of Terre de Liens association, as well as to the Board member in charge of European affairs. S/he is also accountable to the core team of the Access to Land network.


QUALIFICATIONS :

Essential criteria :
•At least 5-year experience facilitating international networks.
•At least 5-year experience managing EU-projects, with multiple partners.
•Experience of successfully working with alliances.
•Ability to combine multiple threads of work, projects, and areas of work (networking, experience- sharing, campaigning...).
•Ability to work cooperatively both as part of a French team and in a cross-cultural setting.
•Fluency in written and spoken English and French essential (C1 or above). Other European languages, an advantage.
•Knowledge of food and farming issues
• Willingness to travel up to 8-10 weeks/year
Desirable criteria :
• Flexibility and ability to work with autonomy
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience of working with Central and Eastern European organisations

Contract Type : French employment contract

Temporary : (CDD) – 12 months

Salary : In line with Terre de Liens pay grid

Hours : Full time equivalent (35h/week)

Start Date : 20 August 2018

Location : France preferred
